Capiz shell comes from the windowpane oyster, found in coastal waters near the Philippines and India. These candle holders are handmade in the Philippines, where the shells are carefully shaped and assembled to create the lotus flower form.

The lotus has long symbolised transformation and awakening, representing the journey from darkness into light, and from innocence toward insight and wisdom. In many traditions it is also associated with the seven main energy centres of the body (chakras). The purple lotus is connected with the Crown Chakra, symbolising higher awareness and spiritual connection.
